Prepare Ye The Way

Happy Easter (:

And what Lenten season is complete without Godspell playing in the background? On loop? I’ve had the soundtrack for ages, but it was only last year (at the big Astroplus-Podium sale to be exact) when we acquired the DVD. Highly recommended for the soul.

*Oh, Seasons 1, 2, and 3 of Seinfeld were also on rotation in our dvd player. Highly recommended for the overworked! hehe

Album cover purses and coasters, keyboard jewelry, Harlequin Romance cover switchplates, a James Bond wallet — these are just some of the fun stuff you can find at Not Without My Handbag. My picks?

*You better love somebody, it’s late.

*Looky, our very own Pilita. Yes it’s really her!

And speaking of pop culture, Fudge mag’s latest issue is already out.

The SHE issue has a feature on “10 Women of Substance” and lo and behold, the powers-that-be at Fudge deemed me worthy of a spot *blush*. Astrud Crisologo, Mari Carandang, and Sari and Kiri Dalena are just a handful of the inspiring women I get to associate myself with. Many, many thanks to Annie Alejo and Anna Gan, hope you gals are reading this.

In the same issue: a write-up on Cecile Zamora* and Mich Dulce’s Store for All Seasons. Yodel, one of the co-owners, told me all about SFAS before it opened a year ago but Arn and I haven’t found ourselves in that neck of woods yet.

We also spied a cameo appearance of Mr. Komikero himself, Gerry A, in Gusgus’ San Pablo adventure. Watch out for his new comic, to be serialized in Fudge starting next issue.

*I frequented Grocery when it was still at Pilar St. (That’s where I got my stash of retro t-shirts back in my retro t-shirt phase). It also helped that a friend, Jenny‘s Kelvin lived right next door and would alert me everytime they held a sale. (:

Rosy little things.

Our fashion expert Tippi advises: “Trends are like friends — choose them wisely?Ǭ¨?Ǭ®?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?¢‚Ǩ¬†& don’t follow them blindly! Create your own style.” Be sure to check out the Notes and News section for fun tips and regular updates.

Maloles makes flats just the way I like them — colorful, round-toed, and unique!

Do check out Sprout cards — notecards with wit, humor, and a touch of, fine, shabby chic.

“Quite chahhming” as Rachel would say.

Last night —

we had a despedida dinner (*sob*) for one of my bestest friends, Sheila, who along with hubby Mike will be based in Singapore starting next week.

(I’ll miss you Shei. So I guess Tips and I will just have to use up some miles in order to meet you for lunch from now on (; )

I also dropped by the mini-CFA reunion/welcome dinner for Lizza‘s friend Angela before heading to Sheila’s despedida. Carlo has some pictures here

Oh, if you happen to notice that Arn oddly wasn’t with me in any of the pics, that’s because he was at a dinner meeting with Gerry, Ilyn (hi Ilyn!), and Zach for another project to look forward to *wink*

Speaking of Arn and Gerry, their last team effort Lastikman was reviewed in the Philippine Star last week.

A few of our new year acquisitions:

Carnet de Voyage

Craig Thompson promises his fans that this is not his “next book”. It’s really a travel journal he kept while touring through Africa and Europe early this year. Exquisite sketches accompany his painstakingly-detailed notes and if you’re a huge Thompson fan like Arn and me, it’s worth forking the few dollars* over. You may browse through some excerpts here.

*Locally, you can ask our friendly neighborhood comic guy to get it for you.

Cosmos Boxed Set

Do you remember the old TV show Cosmos which aired on Channel 9 in the 80’s? (If not then oops, the age gap is showing). Loaned to us by Arn’s brother kuya Lenn, a professor in the US, this extraordinary show that was written and hosted by the late, great Carl Sagan is chock-full of information about everything over and around the sun. I’m only watching the ones that interest me but Arn is bent on viewing all 13 episodes one after the other.

Have you been waiting as long as I have? Just hang on for a few more months…

There are two featurettes here and here.

Aww, thanks for your loyalty, Monra, Junnie and Heidi. Yay!

Trust the Japanese to come up with the ultimate OC’s dreamhouse — a house of drawers. Imagine being able to keep clutter hidden from view, and at the same time have a different “look” for your interiors each day. Just push and pull and:

now you’ll see them,

later you won’t.

Galing no, “desk tugs of war” will no longer be figments of Terry Gilliam’s imagination.

I feel bad about losing my recent entries due to the switch, so I’ll be reposting some of them (the interesting ones at least), one a day. That way, even if I have nothing to write about, it won’t seem like I’m deserting this blog’s 3 most-loyal readers (yes it’s down to 3, I think: Shei, Tips, and Arn).

Besides gift tags and ponytail holders, what other things can you do with ribbons? Well, a group of (brilliant!) Japanese designers had other things in mind, take a look.

A lamp, dot hooks, bowls, candlesticks, and more — all entirely fashioned out of ribbon.

Looky! Pretty things to spoil your cat with (although our Abbsy seems quite content with what he has).

Kitty paraphernalia from George SF. Am loving the happy cat bowl-flock o’ birds food mat tandem.

By the way, yes they have stuff for doggies, too.
