Close Encounters of the Literary Kind

We weren’t able to get any of our books signed, but at least we got to go home with this:

More pics from yesterday are in the phlog.

It was really all by accident. Arn met and talked with the Dream King in the washroom, of all places. Of course he seized the chance to take a snapshot of that once-in-a-lifetime encounter. Now this, my friends, is why we buy phones with built-in cams. (:

Sam told us that whenever Mr. Gaiman is asked to sign Good Omens, he’ll write “Burn this book” and then he’ll tell you to look for Terry Pratchett and make him sign under his note. Did they have a falling out? Shucks, chismis because he will write the punchline at the back. (Thanks for the clarification, Monra!)

Yahoo, our friend Marbee has a phlog too! Go say hi!

A week’s worth of words.

Top 7 excuses reasons I wasn’t able to blog at all last week.
1. Attended Marco‘s KIA Creators Meet and Greet and caught up with old friends Vinnie, Cams, Dean, Nikki, Elbert, and Gerry. That was a lot of fun, Dimaans, launch a book more often hehe!

2. Went to Kamuning tela-heaven to buy props for our upcoming shoots. Fabulous finds include white sequinned-fabric for P180/yard, furry cloth in silver for P300/yard each, and somekinduva lace material for P350/yard.

3. Worked on photographer Adelina Leung’s beta site.

4. Uploaded pics of Tippi’s 2005 Pret-a-Party Collection that was launched at Fashion Week.

5. Traversed the metro with the WE team to art direct a fashion shoot.

6. Took a break in Brookside to spend time with Arn’s parents and siblings.

7. Helped Arn entertain our houseguest-for-the-day Sam.

To be honest, the week’s silence was also out of respect for the passing of Karol Joseph Wojtyla. May his soul have a safe journey. ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ??¢ÀÜ?°?É‚Äò?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?¢‚Ǩ¬†

By the way, I was hanging out at Marbee’s desk the other day when sir Oliver stopped by and showed me this online society column, goodness gracious! I heard from another friend that we also made it to KLM’s inflight magazine, how bizarre.

Rendezvous-ing

Last night —

we had a despedida dinner (*sob*) for one of my bestest friends, Sheila, who along with hubby Mike will be based in Singapore starting next week.

(I’ll miss you Shei. So I guess Tips and I will just have to use up some miles in order to meet you for lunch from now on (; )

I also dropped by the mini-CFA reunion/welcome dinner for Lizza‘s friend Angela before heading to Sheila’s despedida. Carlo has some pictures here

Oh, if you happen to notice that Arn oddly wasn’t with me in any of the pics, that’s because he was at a dinner meeting with Gerry, Ilyn (hi Ilyn!), and Zach for another project to look forward to *wink*

Speaking of Arn and Gerry, their last team effort Lastikman was reviewed in the Philippine Star last week.

{Recycled post #3}

A few of our new year acquisitions:

Carnet de Voyage

Craig Thompson promises his fans that this is not his “next book”. It’s really a travel journal he kept while touring through Africa and Europe early this year. Exquisite sketches accompany his painstakingly-detailed notes and if you’re a huge Thompson fan like Arn and me, it’s worth forking the few dollars* over. You may browse through some excerpts here.

*Locally, you can ask our friendly neighborhood comic guy to get it for you.

Cosmos Boxed Set

Do you remember the old TV show Cosmos which aired on Channel 9 in the 80’s? (If not then oops, the age gap is showing). Loaned to us by Arn’s brother kuya Lenn, a professor in the US, this extraordinary show that was written and hosted by the late, great Carl Sagan is chock-full of information about everything over and around the sun. I’m only watching the ones that interest me but Arn is bent on viewing all 13 episodes one after the other.
