((Please pardon the dirty\u00a0cutting mat&#8230; I&#8217;ll clean it this weekend!))\u00a0I made these <a href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/p\/wNOGNTtru_\/\" target=\"_blank\">jeepney, tricycle, and pedicab doodles<\/a>\u00a0 ((The jeepney was especially tedious\u00a0to carve because of all the detail I put! Masochist much?)) \u00a0a week ago and thought of printing them on the Gocco&#8230; until I realized that I didn&#8217;t have enough screens.*headdesk* \u00a0But as explained in the previous post, this is what led to my interest in rubberstamping in the first place which just proves that necessity is the mother of\u00a0<del>inven<\/del>\u00a0innovation (and crazy new obssessions).<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>On the home front, Arn is happy that I&#8217;m spending evenings being artistic &#8212;\u00a0not just vegging out in front of the TV watching J-dramas (Teehee. Now you know. ) So now I&#8217;m either carving or doodling while\u00a0my iTunes blasts out J-pop. Same difference. \ud83d\ude42 I&#8217;ve actually been semi-passively studying Nihongo\u00a0since 2011\u00a0but I&#8217;ll reserve that story for another time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Before I went\u00a0off-tangent,\u00a0I was\u00a0gonna say that Arn and I\u00a0have been talking about what sparked this sudden desire to\u00a0create with my hands.After some thought, I had the answer:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/designfesta.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Design Festa!<\/a>!!<\/p>\n<p>This cheezy photo below was taken at the Design Festa Gallery in Harajuku, Tokyo in 2006. Since then I&#8217;ve been wanting\u00a0to attend the actual festival\u00a0but our\u00a0timing was always off. When we planned our trip for this year, I made sure to check the schedule. They usually hold it in May and November. We chose to go in the fall because Tokyo\u00a0would be just as hot\u00a0as Manila if we went in the summer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/-oniaYyrr62Y\/VI8PW5S_BII\/AAAAAAAADwE\/T8t58DDDpA4\/w1000-h750-no\/20141108_093912.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So here I am all giddy, holding our\u00a0pre-bought tickets which we purchased at the HQ in Harajuku (the same place in the 2006 photo I posted above). We actually arrived at Tokyo Big Sight 30 minutes before it opened.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-wUFnp1v6Qbk\/VI8PXPcJP_I\/AAAAAAAADwI\/twnkWoRQObk\/w1000-h750-no\/20141108_101138.jpg\" alt=\"design festa 2014\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is not even half of the crowd that was there bright and early. Indie bands\u00a0were playing outside. Strange short films were showing upstairs. A diverse selection of food carts dotted the place.\u00a0At the end of the day my tote\u00a0was filled with\u00a0handmade puraban brooches, plushies and some stationery. Arn bought several art\u00a0cards and \u00a0indie comics.
