“Young cat, if you keep your eyes open enough, oh, the stuff you would learn. The most wonderful stuff.” - Dr. Seuss

Really busy…busy, busy…hairdresser on fire

Huh? Is it time for my once-a-month entry already? I hardly even noticed February creep in because I was [see subject heading]1 with:
1. A website for a very talented Cake Artist. Can’t show you the new site yet but I will soon because I want you to see her beautiful handiwork. UPDATE: It’s almost live, friends. You can take a peek if you like :)
2. Another album packaging project. It’s here2.
3. Illustrating and designing for merchandise not just for *cough plug cough* Poptastic3 but also for a well-loved blogger/writer who’s coming up with her line of products soon. Sorry but that’s all I can say about that for now. ;)
4. And now that it’s Feb, I have to start working on the layouts for a new publication by the same team that’s brought you Wedding Essentials called “WE Destinations”. Watch out for it in April! :D
That said, it’s likely that my next “well-planned”4 blog entry will be in April.

Please also watch out for the latest issue of Cast, due out this week –written by Jamie Bautista, drawn by my hubby. I’ve read the issue and it totally rocks! I like the series because it has the feel of Veronica Mars (and I mean that in a good way, you know I’m a fan) only without the murder. Here’s the ad starring some, well, very familiar faces:

And because Arn and I are terribly hooked and cannot (and will not) be stopped from talking about it, here’s a link to the unofficial Heroes blog by director/producer Greg Beeman. Warning: there are a few spoilers in there but it’s worth visiting because of the interviews, behind-the-scenes photos and very entertaining director’s commentary.
Heroes!

No matter how busy we are, we make it a point to set aside an hour every Tuesday, Pacific standard time, to watch the latest episode5. Arn’s even gone as far to say that the superhero concept will never be seen the same way again. If you haven’t seen it yet, please do yourselves a favor and watch the first episode on Wednesday at 9pm, Star World. You will LOVE it. :)

Haha Shei, you have to read the series. It’s really good! :) As for “the artist”, siguro it’s someone who sees me all the time. ;)

  5. Hey Cynthia! Nice! Heroes fans pala kayo ha hehe! I’ve been following it since its ‘draft episode’ last year. I’d have to agree that how superhero stories unfold will never been the same again, especially how Peter’s powers are the bomb. Nakakabitin bawat ep. Even better than Prison Break.

  6. Haha, yes, Peter is THE BOMB! I just finished downloading this week’s episode, yayness. Sobrang nakakaloka ano? I’ve never been this obsessed about a show since, well, Veronica Mars ;)

  7. Hi Cyn!

Thanks for the plug! Oh my god, we’re obsessed with the same shows! :-) Yes, there’s a reason Cast has a “Martian” feel, though strangely enough I only sought it out for research on doing detective stories, and I just fell in love with it! It’s surpassed Friends and West Wing on my watch list. But I can’t get Iyay into it for some reason. Hmm.

She loves “Heroes” too, except Peter whom she despises. The actor, not the character. She finds his “Keanu’s acting in Tobey Maguire’s body” irritating. :-)

    Hi Jamie!
You’re very welcome — Arn and I have been rereading Cast 11 (thanks for the copies), it’s SO FUN! Galing talaga the way you wrote it, the characters are so lovable, yup just like in VM (did you see this week’s episode yet?) As for Heroes, how funny about Iyay, Arn didn’t like Peter in the beginning too — arte nga kasi with all that ‘I can fly’ hangup. The character’s better now that he’s discovered what he can do. Ey good luck with your wedding prep and thanks so much for the invite, will be there! :)

  9. Thanks! Just saw the new VM (the coach murder). I just love the elevator scene with Logan, Veronica and the little girl Heather. :-)

And interesting cliffhanger. So it’s a two part mystery in a five-part mystery? How do you feel about the move away from season long mysteries?

Iyay actually is OK with the character. She hates the actor. This week’s episode was her favorite because he wasn’t in it. :-) That and all the suspense!

  10. Oh, Heather was so lovable when she was convincing V about L’s feelings! And that dedication on the radio — how cute was that? I really want them to get back together…

I miss the season-long mysteries, especially the one in the first season — that was solid — although I guess it’s easier for the writers to maintain this format. Marketing wise it helps too because viewers now don’t have to see it from the beginning and can just jump in between story arcs. I miss some of the regular characters too like Mac and Wallace, they don’t seem to have as much airtime now.

Re Heroes, yes Arn was happy Peter wasn’t in it too and that it featured more of Matt, his favorite character. (Grabe Sylar never fails to creep me out, even while wearing a Ramones shirt)
